How to know it's a charging fault

Won't charge with any cable
Tried multiple cables and adapters, charging LED doesn't light up. The charging port or the charging IC on the board has failed.
Charges only at specific angles
You have to hold the cable at a particular angle or apply pressure. The USB/micro-USB/USB-C port's solder joints have cracked or the port housing is worn.
Charging LED blinks but battery doesn't fill
Indicator shows charging activity but battery percentage stays flat. The charging IC is reading the connection but not delivering current to the battery.
Charges with original cable only
Third-party cables don't work, only the brand's original cable. Cable-authentication IC or data-pin handshake issue — common in JBL and Bose speakers.
Speaker gets hot during charging
Enclosure feels abnormally warm while plugged in. Charging IC or power-regulation circuit is drawing excess current — stop charging and call us.
Charging port is loose or broken
Port moves freely or pins are visibly bent/missing. Physical damage from repeated plug/unplug cycles or a drop while charging.

How charging repair works
Five steps from diagnostic to handover. Most charging faults are port wear (quick fix); some are IC-level (requires micro-soldering).
1Diagnostic
We test with multiple cables and adapters. Voltage measurement at the port, current draw under load, visual inspection for broken pins. This step tells us if it's port, IC, or battery.
2Open and inspect the board
Enclosure opened, board exposed. We trace the charging circuit on the schematic — from port to charging IC to battery connector. Thermal imaging identifies hot spots.
3Replace the port (if worn)
If the port is physically damaged or solder joints have cracked, we desolder the old port and install a new one. Micro-USB, USB-C, barrel jack — we stock all common types.
4IC-level repair (if needed)
If the charging IC has failed, we micro-solder a replacement. This is board-level work — same skills as phone motherboard repair. Most shops can't do this.
5Reseal and charge test
Housing resealed, speaker plugged in with multiple cables. We charge to 100% and verify the charging LED and battery health before handover. Only leaves the bench when every check is green.

Port vs IC, cable compatibility, USB-C charging, warranty — the questions our techs hear daily.
Charging port replacement typically ranges from ₹1,200–₹2,500 depending on the port type and speaker brand. IC-level repair (if the charging chip has failed) is ₹2,500–₹4,000. We provide an exact quote after diagnostic — if it's just cable compatibility, sometimes it's a free firmware tweak.
Port replacement is typically under an hour. IC-level repair (micro-soldering a new charging chip) can take 2–3 hours. 30 minutes on-site for doorstep in Bangalore + free pickup nationwide. Walk-in at our Marathahalli centre is same-day.
Not normal — it's a cable-authentication or data-pin handshake issue. Some brands (JBL, Bose) use authentication chips that reject third-party cables if the data pins aren't communicating correctly. We can repair this by fixing the handshake circuit or replacing the authentication IC.
If your speaker is still under manufacturer warranty, a third-party port replacement (including ours) voids it. iTweak instead provides our own 6-month warranty on the port and labour. For speakers still under brand warranty, we recommend the brand's service centre; for everything else, our repairs deliver factory performance at a fraction of brand service cost.
Diagnostic tells us. If the charging LED doesn't light up with any cable/adapter, it's usually the port or charging IC. If the LED lights up but battery percentage doesn't rise, it's often the battery. If you have to wiggle the cable, it's definitely the port. Book a diagnostic — we'll trace it exactly.

IC-level repairs may need to go to the lab (micro-soldering requires a microscope). Anywhere else in India, we offer free insured pickup and return within 24–48 hours.
Every charging repair comes with a 6-month warranty covering both the part and the labour. If the port or IC fails to perform within those 6 months, we repair or replace it free of charge. We also offer a diagnostic guarantee: if the issue you booked us for wasn't actually the charging circuit, you don't pay for the repair attempt.
