When you need a loudspeaker repair
The loudspeaker is what plays music, ringer, alarms, and speakerphone audio — distinct from the earpiece used during phone calls. Six signs it's failing.
Completely silent on music or video playback
Music apps play, video apps play, but no audio comes out — not even at max volume. If the headphones work, the loudspeaker is the culprit.
Crackling or popping sounds
A blown speaker cone produces irregular crackling, especially on bass-heavy audio. Distorts more as volume goes up.
Very low volume even at max
Lint, dust, or debris in the speaker grille muffles output. Sometimes a free clean fixes it; if not, the speaker assembly is degraded and needs replacement.
Distorted audio on speakerphone calls

The ear speaker is the small slot at the top of the screen — it handles audio during phone calls held to your ear. They're separate components and fail independently. If you can hear callers fine but music is silent, it's the loudspeaker. If music plays but callers sound muffled when held to your ear, it's the ear speaker.
If we use an Apple-spec assembly (which we always do), yes — the IP-rated waterproof mesh and gaskets ship as part of the speaker module. Cheap shops often skip the gasket or fit foam in its place, which destroys the water resistance. We don't.
