Wifi greyed out in Settings
Classic wifi-chip failure on older iPhones (especially iPhone 7 / 7 Plus). Chip-level repair is the fix.
Connects briefly, then drops
Could be a damaged wifi antenna (often after a drop) or weakening solder joints on the chip. Diagnose first.
Bluetooth pairs but won't stay connected
Bluetooth and wifi share a chip on most iPhones. Same diagnosis applies.
Shows 'no service' for cellular
Different from wifi — usually the cellular baseband chip or the antenna. SIM-reset is a free first try.
Only fails on specific networks
Often a software issue. Fresh iOS install or carrier-settings reset usually resolves.
After a drop or water exposure
Physical damage to the antenna or chip. Board-level inspection needed to confirm.

Same chip handles wifi + bluetooth. If wifi works but bluetooth doesn't, it's often a software issue we can fix free. If both fail together, it's the chip.
