How to know it's the screen
Apple Watch glass is 1mm thick and bonded directly to the OLED — a drop, a pressure event, or even a thermal shock can crack one or both layers. These six signs all point at the display assembly.
Visible cracks on the glass
Hairline or impact cracks you can feel with a fingernail. Even if touch still works, the moisture seal is compromised — swap before water ingress reaches the board.
Ghost touches or dead zones
Watch registers taps you didn't make, or stops responding in part of the screen. The digitiser layer is failing; OLED swap also replaces the digitiser.
Black spots, vertical lines, dim patches
OLED damage from impact or pressure. Visible even though the glass might look intact.
Screen lifted off the case
Often paired with a Series 3 swollen-battery problem — see the battery page if the watch is also showing battery symptoms.
Display flickering or colour-shifting
Display ribbon damage or OLED degradation. Full assembly replacement restores colour accuracy.
Apple Pencil-style force-touch not working
Force-touch sensor lives behind the OLED on older Series (1–3). Damage to that layer breaks force-touch even if regular touch still works.

Worried about water resistance after the screen swap?
It's a legitimate concern. Apple's IP67 / IP6X / WR50 ratings assume factory-sealed adhesive — any third-party repair (including ours) means your watch is no longer rated to the original spec. iTweak uses Apple-spec adhesive and a proper screen-bonding press, which restores splash + shower resistance — but we tell every customer the watch is no longer rated for swimming, diving, or salt water after a screen repair. Honest disclosure beats a surprise.

Yes, mainly because the moisture seal is compromised. Even small cracks let in humidity and sweat that will eventually reach the logic board and battery. Replacing the screen now is cheaper than replacing the whole watch later.
Yes — OEM screens match factory glass on touch sensitivity, brightness, and force-touch. We verify all three before returning the watch.
Partially. The factory IP rating is no longer valid after any third-party repair (Apple's policy, not ours). However our Apple-spec adhesive restores splash + shower resistance. We tell every customer not to swim, dive, or expose the watch to salt water post-repair.
Yes — these often occur together. The swollen battery lifts the screen which then cracks. We do both repairs in a single bench session.
Most screen repairs take 1–2 working days at our bench. Total round-trip with FedEx pickup is typically 4–6 days. Walk-in customers get the watch back the next day.
